LAMONT - HASTIE marriage
« on: Monday 01 June 09 08:13 UTC (UK) »

A family letter says that "my mother had 3 sisters in Dundee ... Mrs Leslie, Mrs Henderson and Mrs HASTIE. I've found the first two but not Mrs HASTIE.

The writer's mother was Elizabeth LAMONT, born 1847 Dalkeith, the daughter of David LAMONT and Ann HALL. She married James DAVIDSON 1877 Dundee.

I've tried the IGI and Scotlandspeople but can't find a marriage of a HASTIE to a LAMONT or LAMOND.

Any leads gratefully received. :-)

Only one Hastie and Lammond with its variants and it's not yours  :O(

1892 HASTIE ALEXANDER LAMONT NELLIE KILMAURS /AYR 598/00 0026

Also as a matter of interest, from the IGI - born to a David Lamont and Ann Hall all of Scotland search 1830 - 1870

1.  Janet Lamont - Ch: 21 APR 1845 Free Church Or Saint John'S United Free Church, Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland
2.  David Lamont Birth: 26 JUN 1858 Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland
3. Ann Lammond -  Birth: 15 APR 1861 Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland

hi jan  Smiley

as well as what steve has found -
on the 1851 census(freeCEN) there is(i think) elizabeth age 3 and
margaret age 1 - no sign of janet
ann born 1861 would make 4 daughters and there is another possible on
the IGI-
jane caldwells lamont born 15th oct 1855 dalkeith midlothian
parents david lamont and ann PAUL( hall ?)
apart from elizabeth can you tell which one you think may have married
the "Hastie"

Thanks, Piglet01 and ev for the feedback.

Jane Caldwells Lamont married John Henderson, so she's the Mrs Henderson.
Margaret Lamont married William Leslie so she's the Mrs Leslie.

That leaves Ann Lamont born 1861 but there's no marriage to a Mr Hastie that I can find. Or the death of an Ann Hastie nee Lamont.

Jane Lamont was born in 1855 - her birth says there were 2 girls living, 1 boy, 2 girls deceased. One of the living must be Elizabeth. Janet doesn't appear in the 1851 census but in 1861 there's an Ann aged 13. She must have died because of the Ann born 1861.

The only other possiblilities I can think of are that Ann Lamont married twice? Or there's another daughter I haven't found?
