Presteigne/Knighton/Kington
« on: Thursday 26 August 04 16:15 UTC (UK) »

My great grandfather was one William Leech of Presteigne
(Coachman) who married Mary Ann Reynolds there in Sept
1854.  My grandfather-Charles was born there in 1858. He
married Mary Ann Oliver (also I believe of Presteigne) at
Reading in October 1882. Lucy Oliver was born was born in Kington in March 1872.  Emma Louisa Oliver was born in
Presteigne in December 1862. Samuel Oliver was born in Kington in June 1985.
Charles Leech was a Master Tailor in Cardiff and died in 1924.
Am very new to genealogy and am totally unorganised -
scraps of paper everywhere!

This may be your William Leech on the Radnor 1861 Census, but with a different wife. Huh
Presteigne in
The Parish of Presteigne /folio87/page17

LEACH William, head, married, aged46, Coachman, born GLS Micheldean, abode Church St,
LEACH Sarah, wife, married, 40, Coachman'swife, born RAD Presteigne, abode Church St,
LEACH Charles, -, u,  3, Nursing Child, born MON Tredegar, abode Church St,

This information is from a census transcript.
Their is a "-" on the transcript, where "s" for son would normally be, as regards Charles Leach.  Something that would need to be checked on an actual census image.
