1841 census for Ross

Tying to find a Thomas and Catharine Powell, both would be in their late 40's. Thomas a blacksmith by trade.
Also their daughter Jemima born 1824, she born in Llangarren.

SORRY this is not a reply to your lookup (!) but I have Powells from Llangarron also - maybe we have a connection? I have William Powell born c1836 in Llangarron (also lived in Whitchurch Herefords) and George Powell born c 1859 in Pencraig Herefords (same area). Both married Evans girls from Llangarron and surrounding areas. Just a thought...

Hi Ger,
Thats a coincidence as my Thomas and Catharine Powell had 2 daughter Elizabeth born 1822 and a Jemima 1824 for Llangarren. Then a son Thomas in Ross. This is why I have asked for the look up of Jemima to see if her parents are with her as I cant find them in Ross 1841/51. They may have both died but they would have been quite young. do you know the parents of your George and William as they may be brother's to my Thomas.

Oops George married a Partridge girl of Llangarron, actually (whoops!). Powell is a common enough name in that area but Llangarron only had somewhere around 1000 people living there, I think.

Unfortunately I don't know the parents of either lads - can't find George for certain in 1881 although there is a possibility he was in the army (hence no parents!). William was 45, married and living in Whitchurch with his wife and daughter. Haven't checked for them in earlier censuses - like yourself I will have to put in a request for a kind-hearted rootschatter to help out with that!
