Wow! You guys are really something - thanks for all that info. There is a family story concerning my father being raised by someone other than his parents. Can you therefore help me find the death of Elizabeth Lyon nee Richardson?
There is also said to be a Scottish connection via LYON but we cannot prove it...............unless it was through the uncle William - the brother of Andrew's father who was born in Scotland according to your research
How do you get the free BMD search?

Hi Benji Glad u r enjoying all our work
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl but everything is not on freebmd and  for anything not there or later than they cover u would need to pay at 1837online or visit your library or whereever the St Cath records r kept in your area.
I would say your roots certainly r in Scotland by these people and whoever Andrews father was I suspect he had brothers William and Andrew born in Scotland (Though if these 2 r his brotheres they r a lot younger than him) so your Andrews father  was possibly also born Scotland. All these occurances of Andrew I would b wondering if that may b his name? Pity the censuses dont give a clue as to where in Scotland they originate from.
Good luck with it all anyway Benji. U have a good start here.

One more thing I just found in 1901 in Wandsworth census we have another house painter born Durham! Could he be a brother to Andrew?  Huh

Wandsworth Surrey
Richard Lyon 42 b Durham St Giles House Painter and Paper Hanger
Elizabeth Lyon 41 b Durham St Oswalds
Harry Lyon 19 b Durham St Oswalds House Painter Grainer
Richard Lyon 16 b Durham St Oswalds Bricklayer
Albert Lyon 14 b Durham St Oswalds
James Lyon 12 b Wandsworth Surrey
Walter Lyon 9 b Wandsworth Surrey

and here he is in 1891
RG12/448 ED 20 Folio 100 Page 31 Entry 220
20 Beyton Road
Wandsworth Surrey

Richard Lyon Head 33 b Durham Durham Painter and Paper hanger
Annie Lyon Wife 31 b Wylton Durham
Richard Lyon son 6 b Durham Durham
Albert Lyon son 4 b Wandsworth Surrey
James Lyon son 2 b Wansworth Surrey

Dont know where Harry is and the wife is Annie in 91 and Elizabeth in 1901 (diff women or known under 2 names-same age and both b Durham) but thought it was worth while u having this in case u later find it connects with your family.
