Looking for information on Charles Nicol b.1834 and I think he was from Moreyshire though I don't know where. His father was Peter Nicol and his mother Annie Nicolson. He was the eldest of 6 kids. Any ideas how to find this family?

You can find the IGI family in 1841 in Inveravon, Banff, on this site: http://www.freecen.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
Peter NICOL - 37, Farmer / Woolen Linen HLweaver b Banffshire Anne NICOL 29 , not born Banffshire Children: Chas 6, John 4, Ann 2, Peter 1 - noting Peter (like his mother) is not listed as born in Banff,
Would need to look at the original, but immediately after them, is listed an Elizabeth NICOL age 70, Pauper. Need to see if she is actually in the same household - markings on the Census should indicate if she is or not.

1851: Ballchighash? - Inveravon, Banffshire Head: Peter NICOL 46, Weaver of Woolen, b Aberlour Banff Son: Charles NICOL 16, Scholar, b Inveravon Dau: Ann NICOL 12, Scholar, b Inveravon Dau: Mary NICOL 8, Scholar, b Inveravon Dau: Margaret NICOL 6, Scholar, b Inveravon
IGI: Peter NICOL chr 3 May 1804, Aberlour Banff Parents: John NICOL & Elizabeth MacCONNACHIE
I would say the Eilizabeth in 1841, is probably in the same dwelling and is Peter snr's mother. I'd also take a guess that describing Peter as a Farmer/ in 1841 is probably a generous description not meant to denote a farmer of any particularly great assets or means - more likely a crofter?
Seems to be 2 children 'missing' from 1851 - John and Peter - which would make up Charles and his 5 youngers siblings whom you mentioned above.
Though the 1841 said not born in Banff, I wonder if this is Peter jnr in 1851:
1851: Lacken - Knockando, Morayshire Servant: Peter NICOL 10, AG Lab, b Inveravon Banff in household of John SMITH & family, Farmer of 20 Acres.
Not seeing John at the moment, in 1851...I wonder if the mother, Anne was from Morayshire....

Now Belleheiglash. From Gaelic Baile-na-h-Eaglais, which translates as Kirkton, in other words, the cottages near the church.

Incidentally, Inveravon is now in Moray.
True; but only since the reorganisation of loacl government in 1975. Don't be misled into looking for older records for Inveravon under Moray/shire/Elginshire. Inveravon is firmly in the County of Banff/Banffshire, even though there is no longer any such area for purposes of local government.
