For those who may not know, there is a major effort underway to transcribe all of the Scottish census records from 1841 to 1891. Access to the FREECEN Aberdeenshire records is: http://home.chilitech.net/~mmjeffery/ From there you can link to what has been transcribed to date for Aberdeenshire and other counties at http://freecen.rootsweb.com/statistics.html and back up and link to the search engine to seek out your families. The 1841 Census for Aberdeenshire is now fully transcribed and searchable; the 1851 Census is well underway. This effort includes very careful original transcription, checking by another person, and then validation by yet another person to ensure accuracy.
