Braithwaite / Stenhouse
« on: Saturday 28 August 04 08:03 BST (UK) »

Can anyone help me?

I am trying to find any info on my Grandmother.
Her name was or Isabella Stenhouse or could be Braithwaite, born late 1800's early 1900's. She married James Gemmell  who was born around the same time.
There is some mystery as to who her mother was, hence the  two surnames.
On my mother's birth certificate my Grandmother's  mothers maiden name is Stenhouse but my mother says she always thought that her mother was a Braithwaite.
Grandma had  sisters Katherine, and Maimie (Mary) and a brother John.
I would be grateful if someone is abole to get me started on this.

Thanks
Robyn

Hi Robyn

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Sorry , it has taken me a long time to reply.
I have done a lot of sleuthing and have managed to find the Stenhouse line and trace it back.
Braithwaite is only in line by marriage and not of any blood interest to me.
The family historian was sent on a wild goose chase, but we have managed to unscramble it.
Thanks anyway.
