would be very grateful for any advice or ideas about where to try next with this one:
Have a copy of the marriage parish record and also copy bond and licence of the marriage of John Archer and Mary Burdett in Theddingworth on 26 Oct 1763.
The marriage licence gives little information as both state they are of full age (i.e. 21+). I have traced Mary's baptism in Sibbertoft in 1741 but can find nothing for John at all. The licence states that they are of the parish of Hothorpe within the parish of Theddingworth and John is described as a servant.
Am in touch with someone else researching John & Mary who lives close to the Leics Record Office and she has looked into likely parish records for John's baptism with no luck.
Does anyone know where I may find additional documents or records for the area for that period that may list John?
I have him on the Northant militia list in 1777 living in Crick and have the records of his children's birth but can get no further back.

I'm not sure if they will have any records different to LRO, but it's worth trying the Leicestershire and Rutland Family History Society. They have a research library in Leicester. The interesting thing is that they hold birth briefs compiled by members relating to their own family history research - there may be a clue in there.
