I have found ancestors on the 1871 census living in bethnal green london.
However they dissappear from the 1861 and 1851 census.

This is how they appear on th 1871

William Gibbons born Whitechapel abt 1820 Head /Slater
Mary Gibbons born Aldgate abt 1815 Wife
Edward Gibbons born St George in the East abt 1849 Son/ Slater
John Gibbons born St George in the East abt 1853 son/ Locksmith

As both boys were born before 1861 and  Edward was born before the 1851 census i would have expected them to appear with their parents.

I believe Edward may have actually been Edward Albert Gibbons.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appriciated.
