Swally,
Did he stay in Canada after the 1950s?
Do you have his father's obit from 1951 & does it give a location for George Allan?
Regards, Josephine

There is a George T. Allan listed as living in British Columbia...but date of death.. is 2001 and he was 76...so ages don't match..
o.k. just read again...was thinking rcaf... You haven't really given us a lot of information here....finding someone this century is tough...but with lots of clues, some of this gang is pretty sharp.

I know that he did his National Service with the RAF during the early 50s and I know that he visited relatives in Canada & America whilst he was there (believe to be AWOL at that time !). His father died on 27/2/1951 at Boghead Cottage, Oyne, Aberdeenshire, the death was registered by his brother in law Charles Middleton. I have spoken to Geoge's sister and she states that he was not present at his fathers funeral and he never returned to Oyne. Now whether that means he stayed in Canada or that he returned to Scotland and never kept in contact I don't know. The other part of the mystery unsolved at present is- was he a child to his father's first wife Helen Taylor who died some 8 months after his father married her or was he a product of his marriage to his second wife, Mary Middleton. One way or another he would have sisters or step sisters Mary and Norma who I believe to be in their 70s.
His father William was a Gardener at Pittordrie House Hotel.
If you can shed any light on any of the above please do get in touch.
All the best,
Ally

Swally,
Have you checked:
1) his father's obit 2) his father's will 3) his mother's will (if she died after the father) 4) his mother's obit
My great-grandfather's obit listed the names and locations of his sons.
Regards, Josephine

Thanks for the reply,
there is no mention of him in his fathers Obit, there is no mention of him on the death cert as he was in Canada on National Service. I don't know if his father left a will His mother died in 1985 there is no mention of him on her obit, he was never seen again after he went to Canada to do his National Service. I don't know if she left a will, but I do know that his name is not included on her headstone.
In conclusion, I don't know where to turn to look for this chap.
Thanks,
Swally

Swally,
My only suggestion would be to search for his father's will.
I hope others will be more helpful.
Good luck! Josephine

Swally,
Another thought. If he signed up for service in Scotland, perhaps you could get his service records?
http://www.movinghere.org.uk/galleries/roots/intro/servicerecords/post1920.htm#
I don't know if this includes Scotland:
