Hello Devon people,

Can someone help me please.
One of my ancestors was born in Devon and various census give his place of birth as Chernleigh, Churnleigh and Chumleigh.
I have looked for these places and none of them seem to exist.
Has anyone any idea where he could have been born?

There is a Chulmleigh and a Chudleigh.

Try one of these, it may help.

In additon to the two above there is also a Chawleigh which is close to Chulmleigh.
