Hi,
The William Airey I have ( 1840, Selside) married Isabella Boak in 1862. I don't know of any connection to the Nicholson family but equally have no reason to say that there wasn't one.
William and Isabella had offspring: Isabella, Fanny, John, Margaret, Robert, William, Sarah and Eleanor.
William was a farmer and in 1881 was at Rosal or Ropal (difficult to read on the census form) Bridge, Whinfell.
Hope this helps,
Jen

Hi everyone,
How interesting 'homeguard' (reply 7)...I know somewhere along my FT the Airey family married into the Huck family, or the other way around. In 1841 at Howstone, Whinfell lived Richard Huck a farmer aged 65, also Margaret aged 25 and my GGGrandfather another Richard who was 6 at the time (he was born there)....Guess who was on the next entry of the 1841 census, which looks like Top Thorn... It was the Nicholson's. I presumed they moved into Howstone after the Huck's! I'd love to know what happened to the older Richard Huck and also Margaret Huck. Can anyone shed any light on this...was it at this point that they joined the Airey family? I know all about the younger Richard...he married into the Wilson family and they lived in Kirkby Lonsdale.
