Hi Kath
If you have a lot of Davies in your tree and they died in Birkenhead they are more than likely to have been buried in Flaybrick Especially 1800's.Rather that Rake lane.People usually, but not always get buried in the aria they live.So if yours died in Birkenhead and Mel has her own collection of Davies from Flaybrick. You could P.M her and she might have them.
I wish Rake Lane had the same facility as Flaybrick whereby once you find one burial and grave number you can just find the grave number on the film and it gives others in the grave. It doesn't though Sad so you have to search one by one.Thats why you really need the approximate year for Rake Lane.If they lived this side of the river(you have to gross  over a bridge to get to Birkenhead)Then they might be in Rake lane Grin

Sigrid
Albert Edward Lawley age 74
Buried 1st November 1950
51 Edgmond Street Secombe
M.O.B . 2nd Class Plot 17 C grave 287

I was positive it said Edgmond Stree, but I have checked
My street map to see if it’s still there but it isn’t. It will be
On his death cert though

Edith May Davies age 42
Buried 28th April 1953. 14 Lancaster Avenue Liscard
M.O.B 2nd class sec 17 Grave 539

Nellie Ryan age 58
Buried 27 September 1943
M.O.B 2nd class sec 16.
The above was difficult to read, and it wouldn’t enlarge,   two different hands making entries, one with tiny writing which this one was.
Plus this particular film copy is on blue cellophane Roll Eyes
The address is 11 and it looks like Dreadle street Secombe but again i cant find it as for the grave number I dont know what its supposed to say it has two dashes on the line well below the next letter one. Sorry about that, maybe i can find a better copy elswere. I didnt do Mary Ann Sayle 1990 because i dont think the burial go that far unless they have gone further, the last year i know of was the 1960's I will follow that up though. The staff were busy so didnt want to bother them again.

Hi Celia, thanks very much for doing the lookups.  You did very well, considering they weren't easy to read.  I can also research the street names now, and see if I can find anything for them.

I have four other people I want to find buriels for, but I haven't a clue as to their death dates.   When I was subscribed to ancestry I found a possible for one of them, for West Cheshire, although I think all four lived in the Wallasey/ Seacombe area. I don't know what cemetary/ies is/are covered for West Cheshire area.

Thanks very much again, glad to have some more information for my files. Smiley

Hi Celia,

I visited Rake Lane Cemetery on Saturday, and found some of the graves I wanted.
In one section 14g, I came across headstones, from before Rake Lane was opened. Looking at my family tree, I have them buried in Liscard Congregational Churchyard. Is this the section I would find most from the other Churchyard or are they dotted about all over.

Thanks

The problem of another church yards headstones in Rake Lane, cropped up a couple of years ago.No one seems to know anything about the records, where the stones were put which plot, where they destroyed,we never found out.Rake Lane (from the horses mouth Grin was badly planned.I think your best option is to Phone or visit Landican office and ask there.Because you cannot do a thing in Rake Lane without permission. So they MUST have a record of where the headstones are.
Hope this is of some help Smiley

Well looking at the map,, typical woman, I had to walk around the church a few times lol.... but now I have my bearings and will be back. Cheesy
But the map can be confusing lol. I dont get lost with others Tongue

sent you the headstones in an email Celia.

Pity not like Landican and put all St Mary's in one place....pity councils didnt learn full stop.... I wonder if the bodies are still interred in Liscard just the headstones removed..... Shocked
I know that has happened in Sheffield General Cemetery. Council wanted to make it a public garden so destroyed headstones. Now it just looks like Birkenhead park. So annoying. Angry

Hi Celia, thanks for letting me know that past the 60's the film is new, I take it that the 90's aren't done? Are there any plans to continue or is that it, do you know at all?

Thanks very much again,

Dear Celia

A nice lady called Ann - a member of Cheshire Roots Web recommended I get in touch with you as a Wirral burials expert  Smiley  I am struggling to find the whereabouts of my Great Uncle's burial and she suggested that you might be able to help please?

Great Uncle's name was George Eaton and he died 8/4/1960 in The Royal Infirmary, Liverpool.  However, he lived on Manor Hill in Birkenhead.  I believe he was CofE but not certain.  His wife was Alice I Eaton and she died 29/3/1984 at home, 82 Manor Hill, Claughton, Birkenhead.

I went to Birkenhead Central Library earlier in the week and searched Landican, Flaybrick and Wallasey records around the time of their deaths but to no avail.  I have never searched burial records before so maybe I missed something but if you could offer any assistance in finding their whereabouts I would be eternally grateful.

Photo of George attached for inspiration!

Best wishes

Barbara

Hello Barbara
Welcome to rootschat, sorry about the late reply i have been of-line since the 23rd i only got back on the other night. If George only died in 1960 there is a possibility that he was cremated in Landican. There for you will not find a burial for him.I do not think he will be in Rake lane because people usually choose to be buried in the place they live.Do you know where Alice is buried if not also cremated.I will see if i can find an orbit for Alice or George because that will give the burial info.It wont be till next weekend though.I looked for a burial recently for a man who lived in B/Head i didn't find him.Till i decided i might as well look in all cems available nothing ventured, nothing found, as they say Grin.He was in a West Kirby Churchyard ::)Will get back to you next weekend

Celia
