Using search parameters on rootschat
« on: Tuesday 22 November 05 20:43 GMT (UK) »

Can someone please enlighten me if there is an easy way to search the search parameters if I'm looking for last names like Street or Page and I don't have any first names to go by. When I put in Street "Street" I came up with 178 odd pages, so what do I do. Thanks

I'd like to know too.

When I search for Dalby, I get all the places called Dalby as well as people.  And as for looking for the Wiltshire family....

Me too!  I've got a family called Maker in my tree and a search throws up Cabinet Makers, Stay Makers and a whole host of others!

Hi,

Sorry I haven't the answer but I am directly descended from the Scotland surname.  I can't even limit my search to the area they came from as it too is Scotland!

I will watch the thread to see if there is help out there!
