Census Look up for Thomas Ferguson and Margaret(b) 1817-18 natives of Kirkcudbrightshire, prior to 1872. We find them in Canada after that. My ggg grandfather and grandmother.

Have you looked at the Kirkcudbrightshire 1851 census which is on line?  There is a Thomas Ferguson, wife Margaret and a couple of children.
