Looking for a possible1/2 sibling out there.
I am trying to find out about the Phillips family who lived at 254,Leigh Rd,Chandlers Ford,Eastleigh in 1947.

Thanks I have now found their names but don't know where to look next other than sending for lots of certificates.Any ideas?

Hi Bulsara,
Try the modern Electoral Roll for the area.Try the area in which the birth occurred, they may have stayed in the area
If you are trying to trace both male and female, stick with the male. His name won't have changed.
If the name is not common it may show up.
If this doesn't work, If a lady, try to find if she married to establish her married name.
I will try and find an on-line electoral roll for the whole of the country and post it here, when I find it for you.

There is a free Electoral Register on this site.
Just type in the name you are searching and the original area. If that doesn't work try a wider area, perhaps by leaving the area to be searched blank.
I just tried it and it bring up a long list.
Let me know how it goes.
You could also try looking on Friends Reunited.

Hi Patricia,
I did sent a reply last night but it doesn't seem to be here perhaps it got lost.
You are so kind trying to help me,I think it will be a nearly impossible dream of mine to locate them.
I expect the girl was sent away in disgrace to have the baby back in those days.She also possibly had it adopted.
I am going to try and send for my fathers army records as he was at "The Polish Camp at Hursley"at the time when he met her.Her mother wrote to my mother to tell her that the girl Ruby was expecting and that she was going to write to the army about it.Hopefully there may be some kind of mention of this in the records when I get them.

The other thought I had last night was try the Salvation Army.
I had a look on their web site this morning.
Try this link. You will need to fill in their form.

For the Salvation Army you have to know both christian and surname of the person you are seeking.  . I can only think that any child in these circumstances would have had the same surname as its mother.
Is there anywhere you can see another voting list online maybe the next one after the child would have been born if she kept it?
