Hello Tanja,
Thanks for yr speedy reply.
The info I had was that the wife`s name was Annie bn
Warwickshire, but........I have learnt to take nothing for
granted. Its possible that Annie died and he re-married.
Going on his age his marriage & family would have been in
the 91 to 01 range. What is the age of his son Thomas J
please?
Thanks,
Hinton

Thomas J age 5, Leonard G age 3, Ellen age 7months.
Everybody born Ledbury.
Thomas is a general labourer.
They are at Homers (?) Street and there are other Lancett's just next door?

Charles, wid, 39, General labourer, Ledbury
George, son, 10, Ledbury
Elizabeth, dau, 8, Ledbury
Leah Sandford, boarder, wid, 25, Woolhope
Ruben Sandford, boarder, 2, Staffs West Bromwich

FreeBMD has a marriage: Thomas Lancett/Charlotte Fleetwood Dec 1893 Ledbury.
Can't find a marriage to an Annie on FreeBMD.

Ring any bells?

... Wait for it.
In 1891 there are 2 Thomas Lancett's with very close births years. I think this one is yours.
Ledbury
New Bridge Street

Hannah Wheele, head, wid, 77, Parish relief, b. Ledbury
Thomas Lancett, grandson, mar, 21, General labourer, b. do.
Annie, wife, 21, Charwoman, b. Warwickshire Alcester

The other one is at Homend Street age 20 (so obviously the one above) with mother Mary and sister Harriett.

OK, back to the drawing board for 1901.

Going back to 1881 from this, I conlude yours is in fact down as Alfred Thomas is 1881, son of Benjamin and Elizabeth.

FreeBMD has the following:

Marriage 1891 Ledbury 6a 673 Alfred Thomas Lancett to either Elizabeth Ann Morris or Hannah Holder. Couldn't say which!

There is also a birth for another Afred Thomas September 1893 Ledbury (=little Thomas age 8?)

Sorry, I can't seem to find Thomas in 1901 though

Hello Tanja,
Am enjoying sifting thru` yr info. Thanks.
How often do you find 2 families in the same area with
identical names. Thomas was the grandson of Hannah.
He had been busy in 10yrs. I see in 1901 his youngest was
2, so Thomas hasnt been gone to long. He may have died.
I will have to check that out.
Thanks for helping me,
Hinton.

Annie is down as 'married' and 'wife' so I suppose Thomas is just hiding somewhere... if only I knew where!

As for 2 people with same names, I actually see this now and then - it's very confusing... and they often prove to be cousins.
