Thomas Frederick Gillett
« on: Sunday 13 November 05 11:11 UTC (UK) »

In the England 1851 Census there is a Thomas Gillett, born Cavan, Ireland in 1841. He was resident in Oxfordshire at the time of the census.
My Great-grandfather, Thomas Frederick Gillett appeared in the 1871 Census (Wakefield, Yorks.)
with wife Ellen (Shaw) and son George Frederick and was shown as being born in Ireland. TFG died in 1881 aged "about 40". On his marriage certificate his father was shown as Thomas, a musician. I am anxious to try to trace any family details to aid my search for my ancestors.
I now live in Australia.
Thanks in anticipation for any help.

Further to my first query.
The 1851 English Census shows the following:
Thomas Gillett(48), b.Oxfordshire,Chelsea Pensioner.  Wife: Elizabeth(45) b.Cavan.
Sons- James(14) and Thomas(10) both born Cavan. Can anyone check for (a) Marriage in approx. 1835/38, and/or Births of James and Thomas?
Thankyou
Alan
P.S. I think it very likely Thomas snr. was in the Army.
