Surname DONALD from Western Highlands
« on: Sunday 13 November 05 16:34 GMT (UK) »

I am looking for the ancestors of George Donald born Jan 1800 in Calton Glasgow.

A biography in a book of poetry published in late 19th century  states: George Donald, whose parental ancestors belonged to the Western Highlands, was born in Calton of Glasgow in January 1800.

Any help greatfully appreciated.

Should have added that his mother's name may be Jane.

hi pal,

wonder if you are looking in the wrong direction?

there is a george donald who is a writer on the 1851 census living in eastwood, renfrewshire.

a quick check of the 1841 census has jane donald age 65 living there, but george is away from home.

could this be him?

Joe

This is indeed the chap. I am looking for his father (husband of the  65 year old Jane Donald).
