Sorry if this is explained somewhere.

I am trying to find out if I posted a thread about a possible ancestor (so I don't duplicate the post).  I tried searching for my post with this ancestor's surname only.  There were no results for the search.  However, I am fairly certain I did post a thread that included the name of another individual with this surname, so I should have had at least one result!

Where might I find out how to search for my previous threads, please?

Go to your Profile and click on 'Show the last posts of this RootsChatter.'

Added- When using Search feature you can narrow down options by date if you have a rough idea when the post might have been made.

You can do a search with [surname] and just select Canada board if that helps.
