Thanks Piglet  Smiley- The hayborough in Cumbria appears to be farm land - nothing there but will try a post there - it also was suggested Market harborough but nothing turned up there either  Huh

Gt grandmother died in 1970 at the home address in Montrose she had lived in since before the war. Which was Charles home address on CWGC

Have posted on Australian board - can we post it other boards as well??

the mystery appears  to  solved a bit on  this  forum  as linked by a newcomer PaulMcMillan on  this thread
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,386293.0.html
So it does appear to explain  what happened to him at least.

Hello,

I have in my Neave list a Charles Neave, son of Peter (b.1868) and Elizabeth (Macray) Neave (d.1957), and youngest brother to Elizabeth, William, Peter. Same Charles--I don't have any information about him, but I'm curious to know whether it's the same family. Thanks.

I am not sure if he is the same family but will look into it and get back to you

Can I ask how you are related to the Neaves?

Many Thanks

Mary Ann Neave, dau. of Peter and Agnes (Robb), was my great-grandmother--all born in Forfar. This Peter, son of Alexander and Jean (Kyd), was a tinsmith and had a shop on East High Street.

Peter and Agnes son - Peter is who we are descended from-  so his sister is your ancestor.

Making us a cousin of sorts.

Great! Is there a way to go off-list? I can send you the information I've compiled on the Neaves. I have some photographs of Neaves you may be interested in. Perhaps you have some as well.

Hi Thomas

The Neaves seem quite straight forward now we think we have cracked the "problem" of Charles P Neave my gt grandfather.

I will get out Neave info sorted and see whats different or myabe what you dont have.
Please bear with me as I am doing my whole family tree and although my mum has been trying to keep it all filed we have masses of info on the whole family.
Many Thanks

Hi!  I was wondering about a possible connnection...especially since I see all the names on your posts.  My grandfather was Ernest Bowman and he was born in Forfar in @1897.  My Dad, Ernest Bowman remembers playing with his cousin in Forfar who's last name was Neave (they called her Binty).  So, I'm wondering if her mother could be the Joan Neave in your post.  The timing would be about right.  Also, you list Craik as one of your names and I know that that's a name somewhere down my line too.

My Grandfather married Annie Geekie and they emigrated with  my Dad to the US in about 1934 or so.  I live in Florida but did get to live in Scotland for three years when my husband was posted there with the US Navy.
