EDWARDS family around St Martin's
« on: Tuesday 15 November 05 20:01 GMT (UK) »

Smiley  I am trying to find any info on the EDWARDS family.  George Edwards (age 28) married Sarah EDwards (age 24) on 9th April 1867 in The Old Chapel Oswestry.  George's father was called George EDWARDS and described as a farm labourer and also deceased at the time of marriage.  Sarah's father was called William EDWARDS described as a canal boatman.  According to the 1881 census, Sarah was born in Frankton and George born in Crosemere.  I am interested in finding them in the 1851 or even 1841 census with their parents as I am trying to find the mothers of each one and of course any other info will be greatly appreciated.  Fingers crossed  Huh

If this is the right George (his place of birth seems to vary through the censuses, although they are all in the same area: 1881 - Crosemere, 1871 - Cockshutt, 1861 - Ellesmere, 1851 - Cockshutt), then in the 1851 he is away from home:

Burlton, Shropshire
Thomas Sadler, Head, M, 43, occ Farmer of 150 acres, b. Salop, West Felton.
6 other family members, and 3 servants, including
George Edwards, U, 14, occ Farm Servant, b. Cockshutt.

Maybe someone else will have the 1841 census - he should be with Mum and Dad then!
