Coroners inquests
« on: Wednesday 01 September 04 19:34 BST (UK) »

Where can I access Coroners records. I have two ancestors who seem to have met untimely deaths. One in a dray accident. [ Drunk in charge maybe!]. The other was in 1836 before BMD registrations started.

From my own research I have found that when coronor's inquests are held they are usually covered in the local papers.  In Cardiff,  where mine were,  I searched the local evening paper and found a full report,  giving all of the history of the case and the whole of the coronor's report.

It is worth a try,  if you can access the paper that is.  If not,  contacting the paper giving details of your interest can spark an editor's interest for a modern day update.
