Hi,

Seeking any info on the following family.


JOHN LINTON was born 1836 in Dringhouses,York, and died 18 January 1898 in York,N.Yorks.  He married ELIZA HOBSON 21 August 1859 in St Mary Castlegate,York., daughter of JAMES HOBSON and ? ?.  She was born 1834 in Stamford Bridge,Yorks, and died 08 September 1881 in York,N.Yorks1.

   i.   LOUISA HARRIET LINTON, b. May 1860, York,N.Yorks; m. WILLIAM NEWSHAM CARRACK, 07 August 1885, Holy Trinity,Micklegate,York; b. 1858, York,Yorks.

   iii.   FLORA BLANCHE LINTON, b. 16 October 1865, York,N.Yorks; d. 06 September 1931, York,N.Yorks; m. JOHN CHARLES GAMBLE, 1887; b. 17 December 1862, York, N.Yorks.(St Mary,Bishophill Jnr); d. 09 February 1928, York, N.Yorks..

   iv.   LAVINIA LINTON, b. 18 April 1869, York,N.Yorks.

   v.   WALTER HOBSON LINTON, b. 11 April 1871, York,N.Yorks; d. 05 December 1926, York,Yorks.

   vi.   THOMAS ALFRED LINTON, b. 20 April 1873, York,N.Yorks; m. ALICE M FUTZE; b. 1880, Middlesborough,Yorks.

Margaret Linton wife 50 (b.1801) Richmond Yorks

Harriet Linton dau 22 (b.1829)Bishop Wilton dressmaker

John Linton 12 son  (b.1839) dunnington

Thomas Ricketts lodger 23 (b.1828) Bishop Wilton nurseryman manager

Eliza Hobson is in Leeds as a servant to

Blanshard Ringrose b 1829 Hilliam and his wife Elizabeth @

7 Grosvenor Place
Ho 107/2321 folio 1050 p 22

I checked for a James Hobson and there is quite a few in

Yorkshire in 1851

but there is a death in 1839 for a James Hobson @ Leeds

could be a long shot though

she is working as a nursemaid to John Francis Taylor in

York, he was a grocer and tea dealer and employed a few

people as well
