I have
John Marah/Mara/Meara presumably born c 1820-30

who may or may not have married...

1/ Catherine McClure - daughter, Sarah Jane Marah born c1856
2/ Sarah Fuller - daughter, Francesca Helen Marah born 1860

John is listed as a Land Steward on his daughter's Scottish marriage cert and may have been born in either Kenmare or Killarney

2 of John's grandchildren were born in Killarney, the rest in Scotland

Any help would really be appreciated

Hi,

You need to go to parish records. Were they catholic?

Killarney records are available from 1785 to 1880 in various locations including 1785 to 1839 at your local family history centre. Later ones are at the National Library in Dublin.

Templenoe which has Kenmare is available from 1819 in the National Library only.

Thank you Kate
Sorry it's been so long since I last checked rootschat, I missed your reply.
I don't think they were Catholic but Mum thinks that the 2 daughters went to a catholic school...(they are both my maternal grandmother)

I am in New Zealand so a search is not possible
You never know ..one day they may decide to put them online :-(
thanks again, Sylvia

Hi Sylvia,

I'm sure there's a family history centre part of the hurch of the latter day saints somwhere in New Zealand. A bit more convenient than popping into Dublin!
