Hi,
I have a John DICK and Helen (nee FORRESTER) who would have had a 13 yo girl Mary and a 14 yo daughter Isabella or Isabel and lived in the parish of Polmont. I am placing this in case anyone has come across them. I will be ordering the OPR which may give clues to a more precise location soon.

Sorry I added up the girls' ages wrongly - Mary would be 16 and Isabel 18 so possibly they may have moved out.

Muiravonside and Polmont are neighbouring villages.

Thanks Anne it does get messier!
Upon looking further at the IGI for DICK in Polmont I noticed something
really strange - there's John DICK and Helen FORRESTER who were married 04
Dec 1813 - looking at christenings there are: John (25 Jan 1818), Christian
(02 May 1819), Isabella (09 Feb 1823) & Mary (06 Jun 1824) but there are
also a a Maurice (22 Jan 1815) and Jean (23 June 1816) christened to a
William Dick and Helen Forrester
Question is - whether the wedding was misstranscribed and should be 1818 or (and Helen was married to William before John) or......what?

None of the Johns had a brother William.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a mistranscription somewhere along the way, I've discovered more than a few 'absolute crackers'!
It is a bit of a coincidence there being 2 Dicks both married to a Helen Forrester so the best bet will probably be the Cencus after all.
