Has anyone got access to the 1851 census of Windrush, can you tell me if there are any PETTIFER's living there.

Hello irret,
I have Edward and Ann Pettifer who married in 1804 at Windrush. Witnesses were Thomas Pettifer and Hannah Pettifer. I have no Idea of their ages but they would quite old if still alive in 1851.
Edward and Ann's children (Found so far) were Anna Maria b.1806. Anne b.1809. Ellen b.1811. All girls - so probably not pettifers any more!

Found quite a few births for a Edward Pettifer but only in Bampton Oxford

Thank you so much. Yes I had the wedding details, but is there any signs of Edward Pettifers baptism approx 1780. I'm looking for his parents.

Was Edwards father on marriage that would help no sign of James will look for Patience. He could have died.
Have you found Edward on any census as that would give his birth place great if it were Oxford.

Sorry, my last reply crossed over your's!
My Pettifers are complicated as I have two different branches, this one that so far starts in Windrush with the marriage of Edward and Ann 1804.
Then I have another branch which goes right back to 1610 in Bampton. I suspect that somewhere they may be connected as the same Christian names are used by both family branches over and over again, if only I can find who Edwards parents where!

Interesting there is a James born 1783 windrush he's a stone mason wife Elizabeth and William and George both stonemasons could be Edwards brother and Edward named his son after him or Edwards father could have been named James

Have found a birth for Edward 14 oct 1781 bampton parents william/ann this could be where the two families branch off Edwards moves to Windrush. Did the marriage not show Edwards fathers name ?You are so lucky 1600

That is interesting, Edward and Ann's youngest son Edward (born in Great Barrington 1823) named their first son James (after his brother and Grandad?) I am descended from James.
Edwards Father isn't named as such at the marriage, just the two witnesses - Thomas pettifer and Hannah Pettifer.....complicated!!
