Baptism Gwennap Parish - THOMAS Family
« on: Thursday 24 November 05 06:50 GMT (UK) »

Would the baptisms be available for Gwennap parish anywhere please - especially the following.  I am particularly looking for:

1.  Grace Thomas  bc 1827 - hopefully father John Thomas / Mother:  Grace Burn

2.  Ann Thomas  bc  1829

3.  Emma Thomas  bc 1834

4.  Richard Thomas  bc 1836

5.  John Thomas  bc 1840??? (may have been born at sea? not sure yet)

Regards

Have the film from the LDS and have found Grace & Anne's baptism at Gwennap.

The other children  of course are not baptised there (just my luck)  - where else would they have been baptised?

I just spent a few minutes composing a reply and then the skies opened in my world & a massive storm hit - managed to lose the adsl link and my message

If you do a search on Freecen http://freecen.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

you can find your family in 1841. (apologies if you already have). I searched for Richard. The family is at Gwennap and there is no sign of Baby John, so either he died or was not born before the census. It could be that the later children were not baptised.

Have you found any of them in 1851? This may give a clue if they were born elsewhere.

Trish

Thank you for looking but yes I did find the family in the 1841 Census at Gwennap, but I am trying to track down their births/baptism dates now - I found Grace & Ann in Gwennap but the other children were not baptised there, will look at other villages close to Gwennap.
