Willsher - Hooe christenings
« on: Friday 25 November 05 01:10 GMT (UK) »

Hi

Is it possible for anyone to look up the below christening from the IGI:

Daid Willsher
Christening: 07 JUN 1812 Hooe, Sussex, England

I would like to know if it should read David and query he has a brother George christened in 1814.

Many thanks in advance

Hi Helen,

IGI defiantely shows the christening of Daid Willsher 7 June 1812 son of John and Elizabeth Willsher at Hooe Sussex.

George Willsher christened 22 May 1814 Hooe Sussex with parents the same as above.

I think perhaps Helen had already found the listing on the IGI and was hoping for a further confirmation from parish records Wink

Helen  - wasn't David born Hove in your previous postings - http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,106130.0.html -  as he's listed in the 1881??

Hi
Yes I was hoping for further confirmation via parish records to confirm what is on the IGI. ( If it is possible)

Due to the help of many kind others, I now think that David Willsher came from Hooe, Sussex not Hove. The 1881 census is the only one that states Hove. The 1851, 1861 and 1871 census all give Hooe.

His marriage in Ticehurst, East Sussex  Date:  4 Jun 1839 to Charlotte Hart states from he is a bachelor from Hastings and that his father is deceased. Huh

So I am not sure where to go from here?

I am trying to see/prove that there is or not a link between the 2 Willshers lines that I now have in my family tree. But i need to track down David's Father and grandfather ( If it is possible) to do that.

Any suggestions welcome

Parents John Willsher and Elizabeth
http://www.arach.net.au/~kenhome/Report%20035,%20InternetTree/wc12/wc12_034.htm

Other children listed as John Wiltshire bapt 3rd July 1806, Thomas Willsher (Wiltshire) bapt 17th July 1804, Sarah Willsher born 8th Oct 1809 and George Willsher bapt 22nd may 1814  all Hooe SSX

Can't see a contact address unfortunately - don't you just hate that!

Anyway, it might be useful  Smiley

Sounds like the family you're researching - take a look Smiley
