Hi Moon

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea - but saying that, I will certainly make some enquiries for you

i was thinking, Chris, don't know what year my Grandfather came to Canada 1912 or so because he married my Grandmother in September 1913 who came over from England too and on his marriage certificate it says electrician so would you think that he received training in England or since he came over to Canada?

Hi Jennifer

If he served an apprenticeship it was usually 7 years, but could have been as little as 5 or as much as 10.
Whatever length of time, he must have served it in England before he emmigrated to Canada.

Hastings & St Leonards Electric Light Company was formed in 1882, and in the following year part of the sea front was lighted up. The whole of the seafront being lit by electricity on June 30th 1894.

So, he must have been one of the first electricians in Hastings.
