Hi,
My mothers paternal family were Forbes'.  They stayed in Dundee from the 1840s but before that lived in Aberdeenshire. I have traced them back to 1176. if i can help let me know.

i sent a reply october 2004 that I was a Watson. My mother's maiden name was Forbes. I have traced them to Forfar and possibly Aberdeen

My Watson and Forbes connections are Margaret Watson 3xGGrandmother daughter of Andrew watson and Catherine Alexander born 1818 Coupar Angus Married John Symington 24/2/1837. william Gilzean 3xG uncle son of Erick Gilzean and Catherine Forbes, she was born 1815 married 21/8/1849 and died 14 /10/1900

Haven't been online for months but saw your post. My Grandfathers name was Forbes and latterly lived in Dundee but came from Aberdeenshire. If you have any queries just ask.

newbie at the message boards,my my grt grt grandparents were william forbes married to elizabeth forbes nee douglas daughter mary forbes mcathur was my grt grandmother born around 1877 have no idea where they were born mary began her married life in glasgow
