No it is not the original, this is one I had a go at using Paintshop.
I attach scan of original, which is very badly damaged.

I can certinly see why you had problems - there appears to be a little damage. No promises at all but I will attempt to cover the damage, it could take a while though and it wont be a masterpiece, that at least I can promise. Denn

Hi Alan and Denn, Might it be an idea for Alan to scan just the top part of the photo, at a higher resolution? I think the bottom bit is pretty much gone anyway, and then Denn would have more detail of the face to work with, which is the most important bit.
What do you think?
Prue
P.S. Can't wait to finish scanning all these hundreds of cartes-de-visites, then I might get time to get back to doing restorations!

I'll have to wait till this evening to try that, but I don't think the top will appear much better than it appears now.

Hi Alan, Doesn't matter if it doesn't look any better, it will just mean there is more digital info for Denn to work with. Cheers Prue

Hi Alan, I've finally got my computer up and running again. I have done some work on your photo but to be honest I'm not at all happy with the results - there was very little info' to work with - it needs someone far better than me to be able to get a result. Anyow much as I am not keen on posting it as is here is what I have so far - I'm not game to try the bottom half, as for what there is I shall keep on plodding along with it whenever I have a bit of time.
