Renewed thanks, you have been most helpful and I hope that I am on the right track - I am awaiting a marriage certificate this week that should provide a more definite fix.

No wories,

Good luck with your ongoing search. If you need anything else just post here.

What would we do without Rootschat ?! - I know I'd have a load fewer names & facts on my charts.

Hello Mark,

I am back with a further request, this time from the other end of the time scale.
I have a marriage between William Blackman and Hannah Hall - date 15th November 1884,
William is 'of full age' (39 in 1901) and his father is named as Henry Blackman (deceased).
Hannah is aged 20 (36 in 1901) and her father is Henry John Hall (a horse keeper) the marriage took place in Walworth in Surrey.
I cannot relate any Henry to any William in the 1881 (presumably Henry had died by then). I think that Hannah was in service so again I cannot place her in her family.
Is it possible that the 1861/1871 will give the detail I seek?

Born 12 October 1813
Christened  07 January 1814   Chapel on the Hill - Independent Cranbrook Kent

If you are still seeking this family in 1881 and before, perhaps you could post the 1901 census entry or, at least, their birthplaces and address at the time.
