Hi brakn,
this is the only Jemima Jones I can see born in Cheshire. Rushton is 1.9 miles from Tarporley.

brakn,
I'm hoping you know the names of Thomas' parents. This entry has a rather odd surname that could possibly be Hildage....
1851 Census Aston By Sutton

Hi again brakn,
I don't seem to be able to find any definites for you - just possibilities..
This is the best match I can find for James Pennington. Tatton and Warburton are both in Altrincham District. Hopefully you will either recognise this family or be able to rule them out.
1851 Census Dunham Massey
Hamlet of Dunham Woodhouse
John Pinnington, head, 29. Farmer 17 Acres, Carrington Maria, wife, 29, Warburton James, 9, Warburton Dennis, 7, Warburton Nathaniel, 4, Warburton John Taylor, 21, Servant, Warburton John Dawson, 18, Servant, Dunham

Many thanks Darcy.
Jemima Jones and Thomas Hildage are, I think, spot on.
The James Pennington one isn't the one I'm looking for. I would guess that he would've been over towards Knutsford.
regards Michael

Hi Michael,
I had another look for James but had no luck. I can see a Samuel Pennington born Tatton 1842 - parents George & Hannah and brother George born 1846. Any chance that James had two names.

Thanks again Darcy.
It could be a solution. I will have to do a bit more digging.
Does it say where George and Hannah were born and what age?
oops.....and where are they?

Hi Michael
I checked the 1841 Tatton, and the only Pennington's are the one's Darcy mentioned above. However in 1841 they were as follows:
George Pennington 30 Gardener Hannah 30 Thomas 1
On checking the 1861 I see James Pennington 19 born Tatton was an apprentice joiner to Thomas Ardern in Lymm.
I went through 1851 Lymm to see if he was there when 9, but no. I have been through Tatton, Knutsford Inferior, Knutsford Superior, High Lea, Agden, Tabley, Over Peover and most of surrounding area.
If we can find births for Thomas, Samuel James and George, to George and Hannah, then James and Thomas (providing Thomas was still livingt) must have been living and working elsewhere in 1851....
Have you got James Birth certificate ? If so, were his parents George and Hannah ?
I shall continue the search.
Kind regards Su

Hi Su Thanks for your help. James' parents were George and Hannah.
I think that James might also have been called Samuel.
That'll do for now..... will have to get back to it later.
PS loved your picture
