Hi Jane,
Have found the following:
Marriages, September Quarter 1860
WALLOP, Hannah, Chippenham 5a 69
No William BRELEY in the index for the same quarter however. Will try variants (I see he is BREYLEY in the 1861 census) and will let you know what I find.
Regards,
Allan

Ahhh, WELL DONE Allan, brownie points for you Is that from FreeBMD? I checked that & familysearch several times but with no luck! Anyway, you've gone part way in solving a mystery, see my thread in the common room, http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,109696.0.html
As I can't find hide 'nor hair of them in 1871, perhaps they did sail for New Zealand. Again, many thanks,
Jane

Jan - sorry I failed to answer your question. No I don't have the family in 1841 - do you ?
Allan - Thanks, you must have used your 1837online credits for that, bless you! I have found sites for NZ immigrants, but as you say, mostly it's ship by ship. They might have gone via Oz and all I can fathom, is to look any time from 8 April 1861 (census night) to 2 April 1871 There again, Hannah might have given the sampler to a sister (she had two) who went to NZ. Probably the easiest thing to do is to find someone to track the Breley couple once in NZ Anyway, keep watching the thread,
Jane

Only Hannah Wallop in Wilts/Somerset in 1841
St Jas Parade, Bath (St James) Hannah Walop 3 born out of county HO107/969/3 pg 15
She is listed as a separate household on her own within a house of multiple occupation, no-one else with same surname so not very helpful for family. Who was with in 51? No definite for William - do you have a birthplace from the 51 census? Cheers Jan

Something like that seems probable Al, only trouble is there are about a dozen people in the house in groups or singles so no idea who might have been looking after little Hannah . Here they all are in case one of them turns up later somewhere. Jan

Hi Allan Susannah is dittoed with the Ashleys although not grouped with them - she is a separate household as is Hannah- but seems likely both might be a mistake. Is Susannah the right age to be Susannah Wallop? Jan

Is Susannah the right age to be Susannah Wallop? Jan It looks like she is! From the other thread http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,109696.msg476101.html#msg476101 Susannah was 42 years old in 1851 so she would have been recorded as 30 in 1841 (rounded down). Also according to the 1851, Susannah was born in Bath. Was she "born in county" in the 1841 census?
