Edith BUCKINGHAM b.1786
« on: Tuesday 29 November 05 17:11 UTC (UK) »

Edith was possibly born in Letchworth area. She died in Letchworth in 1816. She was the wife of Joseph Newberry m.14 Feb 1810 in Ickleford

Does anyone know who her parents were?

Hi Laurina,

I have searched the Ickleford PRs at HALS and located the marriage entry for Edith and Joseph on 14th February 1810, the witnesses being Joseph Buckingham and Thomas Abbiss.

I also searched the Letchworth PRs for the period 1780-1810 but could not trace a christening entry for Edith Buckingham.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much Peter.

Edith seems to be a problem, I knew of her marriage, but not the witnesses. I wonder if Joseph was her brother or even father?

The only other info I have on Edith is her burial on 7 Apr 1816 aged 30 in Letchworth, unfortunately that doesn't give me any more info.

Hi Laurina,

I checked the Letchworth Parish burial entry for Edith but this did not reveal any further information.   However, a couple of entries prior to Edith on 17 May 1815 is a burial of Mary Newberry age 10 of Letchworth.   Any connection?.

Thanks Peter,

Edith's daughter, Mary Newberry, died on 17th May 1815.  I believed she was just a few days old as she was baptised on the 14 May 1815. I'm surprised to hear she was 10

Regards
