Thanks Dorothy,

That's great   Smiley.

Unfortunately the one I would really like to know more about is my gt grandmother Jemima - can't find her birth in 1846 anywhere or her sister Mary Ann. Any suggestions? I have tried Scotland's People.

Hi Laurina,

No, sorry.  Perhaps, for a variety of reasons, their births were not recorded.  If they were in the OPRs, I would expect ScotlandsPeople to have the records.

Hope you find them.

Regards,
Dorothy

Hi, Can you help me with this, William Seton, born Moultin or Moulin, Scotland 1584, married Jane Stewart in 1603 and had 3 children. two of them Robert & Ann came to Gedney Hill, Lincolnshire and bought 600 acres of Crown land sold off by Charles 1 to attract his Scottish followers. Robert married Isobel Stewart in 1625. I am descended from them. I am told that a Gt Gt Uncle Henry took over the family home/farm, Blackwater at Moultin and wondered if there are still Seaton's or Seton's still in the area.

Moulin is a very small settlement close to Pitlochry in Perthshire.

Why don't you contact the North Perthshire Family History Group who are based in Pitlochry and actually have meetings in Moulin Church? They have information about Moulin Parish which isn't on Scotlands People. I found them very helpful.

It was interesting to see the BBC program (Rivers) with Griff Rhys Jones last Sunday when he was near Blackwater upstream from Kinlochleven. I wonder if this was where my Great Great Uncle had his farm also named Blackwater in the 1930's. Maybe I will be able to visit the area sometime.

Hi Keith

There is a Blackwater runs alongside the A93 Blairgowrie to Glenshee road near to kingseat.
This would be nearer to your one I think than the one at Kinlochleven.

Thanks for that info, I will look at the map to find it. As you may have seen family came from Moulin to Gedney Hill, Lincolnshire.

Thanks Brucel,
I wonder if any of them are decendents of Great Great Uncle Henry Seaton of Blackwater Farm. I was told that drovers still came down with cattle from the area and stopped off in Gedney Hill on the way to Smithfield Market as late as the 1930's. My Great Grandmother would make them a evening meal and they would camp on the wide roadside verges nearby.
regards
