I'll be making a trip to the cemetery soon, camera in hand, if anyone wants a picture.

Cheers

Hi Leonie

If you could see if there is a headstone for Sydney Charles Kingwell I would appreciate it. My cousin sent me a scan of the death certificate and i can just make out that he was buried in the Church of England Cemetery Woronora.

Hope you had a great Christmas

Hi Jaki,

I went to Woronora Cemetery today.  Unfortunately I'd jotted the name down incorrectly so I wasn't about to locate the grave while I was out there.

I've now found the grave is in the name of:

Sidney C Kingwell died 1 January 1944 aged 39
Anglican Section 7 Grave 424

The grave was purchased by Ivy Kingwell.  There is a grave for a Jessie Kingwell as well (but no Ivy).

I'll photograh the grave next time I'm there.  Its a 2 minute drive from here so it won't be long.

Cheers

Hi Leonie

Thanks. Didn't know Ivy (my grandmother) had purchased the grave. Ivy isn't at Woronora she is at Rookwood under Fantom (her second marriage) ..... which gave me fits until i found the marriage entry. Jessie is also mine ... my great grandmother. From the looks of it they have split the family between the two cemeteries as my great grandfather is at Rookwood ... so 2 in each that i know of.

Great - I'll look up Jessie next time I'm there as well, then.

Sorry Jaki, but it seems your family isn't big on gravestones.   There are no gravestones on either Sidney or Jessie's graves.

Sidney's nearest "neighbours" are Alfred and Janet Layt at Anglican Sec 7 grave 423.  I double checked the grave numbers to make sure I hadn't missed it.

Jessie Kingwell is buried at Anglican Section 6 grave 687.  She died on 11 Sep 1940 aged 81.  Her nearest "neighbours" are Thomas and Lilian Hardy at grave 689.

Cheers
