Does anyone have acsess to the 1841 census my ggggrandmother was born c 1834 so she would have been about 7yrs old she was born in Peebles married in Traquair she was Elizabeth Johnstone i have been trying forsome time to find her parents any help would be great harriet Cry

wonder if her parents were robert age 45, ann age 40 in the 1841 census for eddleston, peeblesshire

Hi Joe apparently her parents were James Johnstone and Agnes King and Elizabeth was born in Peebles 1827.So another researcher has told me hasnt been confirmed yet Thanks for your reply

The Old Parish Records images are now available on ScotlandsPeople. I'm guessing your Elizabeth married before 1855 (hence you not knowing her parents) so there might (and I really do stress that  Wink) be some more information.

Thanks yes I have Elizabeth's proclaimation to marriage I have her death cert the coroners report etc but no mention of parents Agnes King and James Johnstone do fit the picture

1841 census; bridge end, peebles

james...age 35...ag labourer
nancy...age 35...born scotland
elizabeth...age 14
agnes...age 11
christian...age 4
andrew...age 1
helen moffat...age 15

will go and look at the 1851 to see where nancy was born

Hi Joe yes that is apparently her Agnes can be called Nancy so I read somewhere she was born in Selkirk
