Birkley in Northumberland & Durham

I have successfully traced my lineage back to Thomas Birkley, d. 1662, Newburn, NBL area. His son was Richard Birkley, 1650-1704. Does anyone know of the Birkley line in that area going back further than that? I am very interested in any information that someone might have. Thanks in advance, Doug Berkeley
