Hi,
trying to find/confirm info on Henry POTTER possibly b. 1815 Romney
His parent could be John POTTER b 16/1/1785 and Rebeccah WOODSELL chr. 16/1/1785 Broomfield. (Married 12/11/1805 Burmarsh)
I believe the Broomfield is the one near Lenham, but not 100% certian.
Also not sure about the marriage in Burmarsh, nagging doubts it could be Burwash in East Sussex.
Henry emigrated to Australia before the 1841 census.
Siblings: Sarah POTTER chr 27/3/1808 Broomfield Jane POTTER chr 30/9/1810 Broomfield
Rebeccah WOODSELL's parent probably Henry and Mary (nee TEARSALL)
Henry may have been involved in the Brewer industry and possible connected to a family named Tooth.
Any help/ information grately appreciated
Adrian

Hi Adrian
Mary TEARALL/TERRALL/TYRREL/TURRAL who married Henry WOODSELL was the sister of one of my husband's rellies and her family came from Burmarsh/Dymchurch but I haven't followed her children forward ..................

Thank you the children info is most useful.
One big question still unconfirm is how he arrived in Oz.
I believe it was on the Cornwall in 1839, via a reference from the "Digger - Bounty Immigration. NSW 1828 to 1842" cd:
Surname: Potter Given name: Henry Age: 24 Year: 1839 Ship: Cornwall Native place: Kent England Occupation: Labourer Religion: Protestant Notes: Son of John Potter and Rebecca Woodsall Reel: 1301
As you can see it does all seem to fit. Not sure what the Reel 1301 is or if it would have additional information.
The Hannah Potter death is probably a different one, as we have a date of 1888. Henry died 1901.

Hi Adrian
Yes, I have seen that website but can't confirm the births/baptisms for the children of Henry WOODSELL/Mary TEARRALL but I can confirm their marriage (not by date or place but by the will of Mary's mother, Elizabeth TEARALL nee SLOANE who mentions her daughter Mary WOODSELL etc..). I don't have the will to hand but could dig it out sometime. My husband is descended from Thomas TEARALL brother to Mary who married Henry WOODSELL.
Mary TEARALL bp 9 Aug 1751 Burmarsh see http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gypsy for TEAR..... TER ...... TUR......... TYR ........... baptisms/marriages/burials in Burmarsh and Dymchurch.
Have you tried David HILLS on the Kent Lookup Exchange who has indexed Romney Marsh area baptisms and marriages for WOODSELL?
