Bogan/Carlin
« on: Thursday 08 December 05 01:42 UTC (UK) »

Hi!   Looking for advice.  I am researching a Bogan family living Scotland BUT born in IRELAND!.  The names I have from certificates are:
JAMES BOGAN, bc 1812-5, brother JOHN, bc1815-17, parents JOHN BOGAN and MARGARET CARLIN.

I believe the name Bogan is prevalent in Donegal and Wexford, although I see some in Derry and Tyrone.  Have not been able to pick up a marriage of John and Margaret or births of James and John.

Trying to avoid a paid researcher (at least for time being).  Appreciate any suggestions.    Marie in Sydney

I'm also looking for my BOGAN ancestor who may have been either from Wexford or North West Ulster. There is also a small possibility that he is from Donegal. His name was Michael Bogan, born circa 1815. He immigrated to the United States in 1850, with his wife and children following in 1851.  I wonder if he could be related to your James and John?
