Hi there,
Would anybody be kind enough to help me out & find a Thomas Brown b.1808, wife Hannah Brown (formerly Southern) b.1805?, children: Frances b.1826, Samuel b.1827, Ann b.1828, Sarah b.1831, Elizabeth b.1833 & James b.1835 all born in Woodbrough.
Thank You Very Much,
Regards,

I haven't seen them in any census yet, (apart from my g.g.g.grandfather Samuel who moved to Yorkshire in 1848ish)

Hi Peter I am not sure whether this will help or confuse In Notts 1841 Census Index there are Browns in Woodborough but not the above family. Listed in Arnold at 5-07 855 are-
Hannah, Head 40 Yrs, Mary 65, Frances 15, Charles 15, Samuel 14, Ann 12, Pheobe 10,, Sarah 9, Elizabeth 6 and 1/2, James 5 and 1/2. Mary 3 and 1/2 ,Hannah 1 and 1/2. All are born in Notts. These may not all be the same family.but if not are living close by.
Checking 1851 at Piece 2128 Folio 219 59 Bond Street Arnold is Thomas Brown , Head Married, 63Yrs Frame Work Knitter b Calverton Hannah wife 55yrs b Woodborough Ann Un Marr Dau 22 yrs FWK James son 14 Yrs FWK Mary Day 12 Yrs seamstress Hannah Dau 9Yrs Mathew Son 7 Yrs
Hannah and Mathew are born Arnold, the other children born Woodborough. The only Christenings I can find for a Thomas/Hannah Brown are at Arnold. Hannah 29.12.1839 and Mathew 23.1.1848. I appreciate that some of the ages are out but I cannot find any others that may fit. The marriage of Thomas /Hannah does show at Woodborough 3.2.1826. Heres hoping

Hi Robin Hood, (It seems rather strange typing that!!)
Thank you very much for finding my family. I would guess Thomas Brown would be in a different area in 1841 if Hannah was the 'Head' of the household? I haven't included the Mary, Charles and Phoebe yet as don't know who they are I will search the I.G.I and make their family up then link them to mine. Do you have the 1861 & 1871 censuses of this area? It would be a tremendously great help if you could find them then!
Thank You Once Again.
Kindest Regards.
Peter.
