Can anybody please help, I'm really stuck, i am looking for parents of Patrick Rice born 1847 in Monaghan, Ireland.  Patrick came to England and also lived in Cramlington, Northumberland. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hei Jane,

The subject title of Monaghan on a Co. Monaghan board may partially explain the reason for no replies to date. I have a suggestion fo a suitable Subject heading (see above). I hope more people read you query with a new heading.  Here is a site that may assist. There are three guys named Patrick Rice on the list. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths.php
Here's another useful site which like failteromhat is based on Griffiths Valuations of Ireland 1848 - 64. The Valuation of Monaghan was done in 1858-60. Jane if you spot any Irish queries where you may be able to refer to Griffiths you will be able to use your new knowledge. People will then think you are an expert on Irish genealogy. www.scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm

I think my patrick may have died in middlesbrough, age 42 as his daughter sent to workhouse as both parents deceased, but thank you for thinking of me Wink

I found a Patrick Rice mentioned on familysearch.com born in 1836 Birthplace Co. Armagh which is close to Co. Monaghan He appears in the 1881 British Census  Age 45  Occupation Farm Labourer  Marital Status Unmarried 
Head of Household John FEGAN Relation Other
