I was reading the Scotsman Archives, and there was mention of a Mr. Meggison who was the manager of the Union Bank in Berwick upon Tweed in 1860. This was in reference to the Berwick Election Enquiry about an election about 1853. Someone came into the Union Bank to get monies which was used to bribe voters to either vote a certain way or not to vote. Would anyone have any information as to the first name of Mr. Meggison and where he was from, or who his family were, such as parents. I am wondering if he is an ancestor of mine. Peggy

Great!. Thanks so much. This is definitely the fellow as some of the other names are mentioned in other articles in the Scotsman, such as Harriet and Isabella. He is however not in my direct line although I may be able to connect him in some way. Thanks again. Peggy
