« on: Saturday 10 December 05 09:20 GMT (UK) »

Hi all,
Thought I'd add my list of surnames that I'm researching in the Norwich area.

If anyone else is researching these, I'd be happy to compare notes.

Fryer
Parnell
Fish
Moore

Hi Ray,

Sorry, I haven't come across a Miles Fish or Ann Parnell as yet.
But who knows, something may well turn up!

Some of my Parnell names are: (all born between 1844-1873)

George, Mary, Frederick, Edward, Emma, Sarah, Albert, Rebecca, Rowland.
The parents of these were Edward and Sarah Parnell-Edward born c1828-

The Fish name comes in to this tree by Edward Parnell (above) marrying Sarah Fish in 1878, in Norwich. I've only briefly looked at Sarah fish's family pre 1880. But as i said, haven't found a Miles Fish yet.

My main tree is Fryer from Norwich, my grandmother was a Parnell before marrying into the Fryer family.

Let me know if you find anything!
Regards,
Sue

Hello SueF,
Here goes with my Moore's (Norwich) - the info is very scarce as I as yet haven't researched into this branch of the family:-

Sampson (Samson) Moore 1861 - married Eliza Mary Ann - one of their daughters was Edith Maria Moore 1878.
Edith Maria produced a base born child - Walter John Moore 1897 - ( father John Boatwright ) - although on Walter John's birth certificate it states 'father unknown', family history confirms that the father was John Boatwright who ran away, joined the army and was never heard of again.

Can you connect to any of these names ??

Hi Rosemary,

I haven't got very far with my "Moore's of Norwich" yet either. My main interest is Phoebe Moore bn. c1854, she married into my main tree in 1878. She married Henry Fryer in Norwich.

I Know her parents were James and Mary Ann, and she had a sister Sarah Ann - got this info from 1861 census.

So I haven't as yet connected any of your names! More work still to do, I think!

Regards,
Sue

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the info, it may well come in useful at a later date.
Yes I replyed to Christy too. But none of her names matched mine either.
Luckily I have found connections on my Mothers side of the family. But haven't found anyone with the Fryer, Parnell, Fish or Moore names on my Fathers side as yet. So I live in hope!!!
Please get in touch again if you find anything,
Regards,
Sue

Hi Gordon,

My main interest in the Moore family is Phoebe born 1854.

Phoebe's grandparents were James & Elizabeth Moore both born c1806.

Pheobe's parents were James & Mary Moore, James was born c1831. James's  siblings were all born between 1827 - 1847. This seems to be the generation that you would be interested in, but I haven't as yet come accross Wiliam Henry Moore.

Your William Henry Moore may well be the the son of a brother of James Moore (bn. 1806)? If you follow my thinking...lol...But I do know from my research on Ancestry there are other Moore family's in the Norwich area that are not connected.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, If anything turns up I will get back to you.

Cheesy.... Happy New Year,

Sue

Hi Sue
All we have with ref to William Henry Moore is Census returns, many which were found on this site, wonderful place this i Cheesy, so far we have no birth certifcate or Marriage  certifcate to Sarah Anne Wiseman (norwich) so working out his birth date is guess work from the Census.

Hi Gordon,

If he was married in this country, you should be able to find the record to be able to order the marriage cert. It would have his fathers name on it, even if he was deceased at the time of sons marriage.....

Good luck, let me know how you get on....

Hi again Gordon,

I just looked on 1881 census... are you sure he married Sarah Anne Wiseman?

She is listed as housekeeper and unmarried.
William Henry Moore is listed as married and has a son William G Moore of 7 years old. But no sign of a wife.... Sad

Hi SueF,

I am also following this thread - but it seems that Gordon has 2 going - look under Norfolk requests - 'any info wits end' - maybe we can join them and just research from one.

On william george s birth cert. mothers name  states Sarah Ann Moore formally Wiseman but we are unable to find any Marriage cert, william george was born 19th Dec 1873.but on the 1881 Census RG11/1947 folio 112 page7  Haymarket, George and Dragon she is 'Wiseman' and a house keeper,
getting past these 2 has taken 20 yrs so far but in the last 2 or 3 days i have found out lots more on all my searchs thanks to this site and helpful people like you.
Many Thanks again to all of you
