Hi, Charles Victor Stevens was buried at Crow Lane cemetary on 16th June 1932, he was an engineeer living at 24 Pretoria Road, in grave Q36. He shows up at this address in the 1919 Romford directory, too - this just shows the name of the main person in the house.See http://www.essexpubs.net/1919RomfordDirectory/The1919RomfordDirectory2.htm He was aged 69 at his demise, so would have been born about about 1863. More to follow, hopefully. Best Kevan

Hi, As an update, I think you need to get to the ERO in Chelmsford where they hold the Essex Parish registers. This might give some clues as to births and parents names. I am not planning on going for some time, it must be at least a 30 minute drive! Do you have any other info that might help in the search, I know it is hard getting this info. I did find a 48 year old Charles V Stevens, born in the Hackney area, in the 1901 census, but probably not correct, although it may be. Any info you can get from living relatives may be helpful, like the info posted so far. Best Kevan
