James LEGGAT and Agnes (nee HALLIDAY) moved to Harrington from Lanarkshire, Scotland after 1871.

Five of their children were born in the Monklands (LKS) between 1865-1871: Elizabeth Dick; Jane Frew; John; James & David.
Three more were born in Harrington: Robert (1874); William (1876) & Thomas (1878).

Some of these, after going to Cockermouth district, eventually immigrated to Canada, starting in Québec; notably: Elizabeth Dick (FERGUSON), John and David.

Jane may have married someone with the surname EDGAR (?); John m. Martha TOWERS; James m. margaret ?;
