Hunts Marriage Index has the following: 1819 at Ramsey Joseph Stacey and Elizabeth Gotobed (no note that Elizabeth was other than of this parish)
The only Valentine in the Index was 20 years earlier than you indicated - 1770 at Godmanchester. Valentine Stacey and Hannah Rayner (the BVRI has the date as 6 Aug 1770)
However just had a look at the IGI and there is a marriage of Valentine Stacey and Hannah Jackson at Chatteris Cambs on 1 July 1790. The full entry from the Chatteris parish register transcript (Cambs FHS) reads Valentine Stacey widower and Hannah Jackson spinster both of this parish. Witnesses John Canard and Thos Newitt jun. Newitt must have been an official as he was a witness at most of the marriages at this time
Burials at Ramsey include Hannah Stacey 27 March 1790 Valentine Stacey 8 Apr 1802 Hannah Stacey 13 Apr 1829 age 60
There is no baptism of Hannah Jackson in Chatteris in the transcript.
The NBI has no burials of a Valentine Stacey subsequent to 1802 (and only one prior - in 1780 in Yorkshire) so it looks as though the two marriages may be the same Valentine, with wife Hannah number 1 dying in 1790 and Valentine losing no time in remarrying.
Hope this helps
Regards
David

:)Hello David Thankyou for those results, most helpful. Wow, I have also received additional info that Valentine was married a 3rd time. First marriage to a Dorothy Ingram in 1851 (not sure if Cambs or Hunts) Also he was born 1729 in Stukely Camb. So he was 61ys when he became a father with wife 3 and died the year 1802 when last son was born.
I have one more request if you could help on this one: It is a wild card but here goes.
Rebecca Fordham b1834 Whittlesea m John Glover of Hunts sometime in 1850-3....I suspect Ramsey again. This couple ended up in Tasmania Aus as well. Rebecca was sister-in-law to my Joseph Stacey
Much obliged Rosalie

Hi Rosalie
The NBI has a burial of Dorothy Stacey at Godmanchester Hunts on 12 Dec 1769
The IGI (controlled extract, so reliable) has a marriage on 5 Nov 1751 at Papworth St Agnes Cambs between Valentine Stacey and Dorothy Ingram
The dates all fit! Papworth St Agnes, Cambs is about 8 miles from Gt Stukeley (which was in the former county of Hunts, not Cambs, although Hunts was merged into Cambs a few years ago so modern references show it as being in Cambs).
The BVRI has a baptism of Valentine Stacy, son of Thomas and Sarah Stacy at Gt Stukeley Hunts on 22 Feb 1729.
Do you already have details of Thomas and Sarah? If not I can check the BVRI, NBI, Marriage Index etc. to see if there's anything there. Online details of Hunts can be a bit sparse!
If you check out http://www.freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl you'll find the marriage of Rebecca Fordham and John Glover in Whittlesey registration district Volume 3b page 1307 in the Dec quarter 1852
Regards
David

Thank you for your generous offer, David. What I have is the skeleton tree of Joseph Stacey's ancestors and the tree has concentrated on the Stacey surname only. It is the women that have me wondering as to who they were.
Here goes:
John Stacey b1663 d1729 married a Jane? 5 kids William, John, James, Elizabeth and our Thomas
Thomas Stacey b1700 Godmanchester d1752 m1727 to Sarah Scodgebrook (no dtls on her, parents etc) 10 kids Valentine, John, Sarah, Thomas, Elizabeth, Ann, Jane (1), Jane (2), Sussanah, Sarah
Valentine and Hannah Jackson had 7 kids (All births Ramsey) (Deaths in Cambs were Wisbech) James b1791 m Hannah Boulton Joseph & Elizabeth Gotobed (do not know her parents) William b1794 d1873 (Cambs)m Mary Searle b1794 d1832 John b1794 d1880 m Ann Parkinson Robert b1796 d1842 (Cambs) m Elizabeth? Thomas b1799 d1866 (Cambs) m Ann Rowe Francis b1802 d1859 m Ann Jellings

Hello again David, accidently hit the send button.....
Fantastic to find the marriage of Rebecca Fordham, great news.
In regards to Valentine and his many wives, I am wondering if there are any records of births to wife 1 and wife 2.......?
Joseph Stacey and Elizabeth Gotobed, I have only two births for this union: Joseph 1820 Ramsey died Aust ...big gap.... and William Stacey b1827 married Sarah Jackson b1830 William had 7 kids, William, Jarvis, Sarah, Eliza, Ann, Betsy, James
It seems that there is an interesting CD to be sought to continue finding out about these elusive characters!
Thanks so much You have opened up a can of worms!!!!

Hi Rosalie
This is what I’ve been able to put together from the research aids at my disposal – unfortunately many Hunts parish registers are only available at Huntingdon Record Office, the LDS having been refused permission to film them.
Baptism John Stacy 14 Sept 1663 at Holywell cum Needingworth, son of James and Elizabeth - not sure if this is the right John, as Holywell is some distance from Glatton where John and Jane produced their children .
Baptisms at Glatton, Hunts 27 Mar 1687 William Stacey son of John and Jane 11 Aug 1689 John ditto 10 Jan 1691 James ditto 7 July 1695 (Birth 17 June 1695) Elizabeth ditto
13 Jan 1700 Thomas Stacey son of Thomas Stacey
The Godmanchester PR entries on the BVRI do not cover the early 1700s so I can’t confirm the 1700 entry for Thomas. There are no Stacey burials in Glatton 1701-1800 so it looks as though the family must have moved en bloc (to Godmanchester?). The first Stacey burial in Godmanchester in the period 1701-1900 was in 1729 – your John, but then nothing until 1755. But I can’t see a burial or remarriage after 1729 for Jane, unless she died in Glatton in 1700.
Gt Stukeley Marriage 25 Sept 1726 Thomas Stacy & Sarah Scodgbrook
Baptisms Gt Stukeley, all children of Thomas and Sarah (what were they doing between 1726 -28?) 22 Feb 1729 Valentine 21 Nov 1731 Sarah 26 Dec 1733 Thomas 1 Jan 1737 Elizabeth 1 Jan 1737 Thomas 2 Dec 1739 Ann 24 Jan 1741 Jane 25 Jul 1744 Jane 8 Jun 1746 Susanna 29 Aug 1749 Sarah (can’t check burials as NBI only starts at 1801 for Gt Stukeley)
Papworth St Agnes 5 Nov 1751 Marriage Valentine Stacy of Gt Stukeley and Dorothy Ingram of this parish
Glatton 1752 (no date) Elizabeth dau of Valentine and Dorothy Godmanchester 19 Jan 1755 Mary ditto Godmanchester 20 Feb 1757 Thomas ditto Godmanchester 2 Mar 1759 Elizabeth ditto Godmanchester 12 Sept 1762 Richard ditto (buried 14 Feb 1763, infant) Godmanchester 25 Oct 1769 Hannah ditto
Sarah Scodgebrook
A GenesReunited member named Sandra has Thomas Stacey and Sarah Scodgbrook in her tree. Do you know her? If not, and if you’re not a member of GeRe would you like me to contact her – if so perhaps you could send me a personal message with your email and I’ll ask her to contact you.
I can’t see where Sarah was from – it doesn’t appear to have been Gt Stukeley, which is where the only Scodgbrooks on both the IGI and BVRI were from, and there are no Scodgbrook burials anywhere in the UK on the NBI. Googling comes up with nothing. It’s possible that the name is so unusual that there’s a spelling variation that’s not picked up by soundex. Aha! Scotchbrook
There are baptisms of a number of Scotchbrooks in Gt Stukeley 1702-1711 where the father is Johannis with what appears to be 3 wives – Ann, Elizabeth, and Maria. It’s such an unusual name that Sarah must come from this family I’d have thought. I only have the marriage index from 1701 onwards – perhaps someone else has the pre 1701 index to check for Gt Stukeley marriages. Ruth, do you have this early index??? (Also need marriage c 1685 John Stac(e)y and Jane)
Dorothy Ingram
Can’t find her baptism but there is a gap in the Papworth St Agnes Register from 1731 to 1743 ; and there are no transcripts at Ely for these years. Also married in Papworth St Agnes were Rebecca 1751; Anne 1752 and Hannah 1756, so it seems as though there was a family in the village. But there were a lot of Ingrams in Hunts and Cambs. Unfortunately Cambs burials are mainly covered on the NBI from 1801-37, with not many parishes earlier than this, so reference to the parish register for Papworth St Agnes is needed. If I was still living in London I had this microfilm on permanent loan at the LDS, but I’m now in France!
Hannah Rayner
This doesn’t appear to have been a Godmanchester name – burials pre 1800 were in the Kimbolton/ Gt Staughton area. I can pick up no other leads as to where she might have been from.
Hannah Jackson
No baptism in Chatteris, and nothing obvious there, although there is a burial in 1789 of William Jackson, carpenter, pauper, which may be entirely coincidental. Hannah is described as a spinster on marriage. There’s a Hannah Stacey burial at Ramsey on 13 April 1829 age 60 which would fit. Ruth – Ramsey isn’t covered on the BVRI – I don’t suppose in your transcript that there’s a baptism of Hannah Jackson c1769 by any chance?
Hope this helps
A merry Christmas to all
David

Hi Rosalie and David
I've checked the baptism index for Ramsey and there is one for Jackson in 1712 and one for John Jackson in1789 so Hannah must come from somewhere else, Ruth
