The only thing I know about Robert is ,that he Married My ggGrand mother Charlotte M Taylor Widow F/A on 28 .121871 St Thomas RYDE I.O.W
he was a widower F/a a shaft sinker, his father Henry was a presser.
On his M cert states living in Ryde No trace of him in 1881,1891,or 1901.
so if if he could be found in the 1871 ! this would be a great help with age & birth place Thanks

Hi Bearkat thank you for your very quick reply.
All I know about Robert is what was on the marriage cert , nothing else said at time of marriage "address " was put down as RYDE,
He was not on the1871 census for RYDE, or the whole of the I.O.W
He a problem
Charlotte was there as a widow with 3 children no one else
That is all I known

Apart from the marriage of Robert and Charlotte there doesn't seem to any BMD entries for COLLINSON/COLLISON on the IOW around this time.

Hi,
There is a Charlotte Taylor on the I O W on the 1871 census with a husband James and three or four children.
There is also a death for a James Taylor Jun qtr.1871,perhaps this is the one?
One of the childrens birth certs.?

Thank you somuch for looking for Robert Collinson I dont know his agebut as he was a widower it could be ? 20 -55!
As for Charlotte she wsa born at Carisbrooke on the I.O.W.
married 1st time 26.2.1860 to James taylor a soldier, at Newport I.O.W,
kATE WAS B 7.5.1860 Newport I.O.W
They went to Sheffield after he came out of the army 7.7.1860, may be to be near his family!!
Samual F was b 18,5.1862 Hillsbror Sheffield
Edward " b ------1864 "
Charlotte " b-------1866----D 22.5,1868 age 2
John.........".....b ------ 1869 Sheffield
James D 23 .2.1870 ...................... "
Charlotte returned to the Ryde on the I.O.W
Rose was bap 3.9.1870 in Ryde bur oct 1870

Now if i could find Robert In the 1871 it would wonderful,
I think most of them come from up North !. This is a big challenge , if not impossible

In 1871 he could be an unmarried lodger labourer living Chorley. If this is him he's a long way from home and quite old.

I had another look at the1881 census for John TAYLOR(I had looked before )& again the only one that fits in is:
John Taylor other ,u , 1 7, BAWTRY, YORKS, ENGLAND, boy first class.
BUT next to him WAS!
Chas COLLINSON, other ,U ,17. Bawtry , YORKS ,England boy ,first class .
on vessel "HMS Vincent" census place Portsmouth, Hampshire ,England
( lastine I looked was years ago before I knew about Robert)
F/H Library film 1341282 P/R/O/ref RG11
Piece/folio1151/57
John was born in ?Sheffield, well his older brother was( mygg grandfather)
& they were on the1861 census in Sheffield.
Now Chas Collinson !( that name isn't that common in the south)? what I am wondering is :could this be the son of Robert !!May be they knew each other in Sheffield! & Robert came down to the I.O.W,To court Charlotte!
Rob was not on the I.O.W.for 1871 Census
As for Bawtry as where John was born that may be a mistake , What do you think .
